Mary Kay has hired a consultant who will serve as CEO for its portfolio of consumer brands, the company announced Tuesday.
The new executive, Mary Kay Senior Vice President of Business Development and Communications, Kate Gabel, will oversee Mary Kay’s consumer brands and marketing strategies for the next 10 years, MaryKay said in a statement.
MaryKay’s current portfolio includes a range of brands including CoverGirl, Glamour, Giorgio Armani, NARS and MAC cosmetics.
Gabel will join MaryKay from the consumer brand side, according to the statement.
Gabelyn Jones, Marykay’s chief executive officer, will remain as the company’s CEO, according the company.
Mary Kay is the second company in recent years to hire a marketing consultant to lead its consumer brand efforts.
In December, the clothing retailer ShopRite announced a new brand strategy, following a review of its existing consumer brands.
The review looked at which consumer brands were selling the most, as well as where brands were gaining momentum.
The report said the company had made progress in its focus on its existing brands, which it said were well-liked, and that it was working to continue to build out its offerings.
Marykay will be the latest company to hire its own marketing consultant, following the departure of former MaryKay CEO John Leland, who left in August to work at an advertising agency.
MaryLee will join the retail giant after working at ShopRites for four years, according its press release.
