A new study has shown that public consulting groups like the ones that recruit for their private consultants are actually far less likely to hire public consultants than they were a year ago.
The study was conducted by the consulting firm Public Consulting, a division of consulting firm McKinsey & Co. Public Consulting’s latest report, “Public Consultations in 2017,” found that the average public consulting firm hired a public consultant in 2018 for an average of $16,200 less than it did in 2017.
The public consulting firms also hired fewer public consultants in 2018 than they did a year earlier.
“We believe that our public consultants have done an admirable job of helping us develop our business and provide the resources needed to stay competitive,” Public Consulting President and CEO Dan Meehan told the Wall Street Journal in a statement.
“The public’s business should be the same as the public’s personal business.
That’s why we are excited to share this report and look forward to a positive future for the public-private partnership.”
Public Consulting estimates that it has hired 4,700 public consultants, up from 2,400 a year before.
The consulting firm has a reputation for being among the most professional and competitive private firms in the consulting world.
Public consulting has become a major recruiting tool for public sector workers who want to get paid more than the $14.5 million salary average for public consultants.
Public companies are also more likely to find qualified candidates for their public consulting jobs.
However, Public Consulting says it is only one of several recruiting firms that recruit its clients.
“Public consulting is an extremely rewarding career for all of us at Public Consulting,” Meeham said.
“Our members have worked at some of the most prestigious corporations in the world, from Disney to Amazon to Microsoft to Amazon and Apple.
We know what it takes to make the best of a bad situation.”
Public Consultations said that it had only hired four new public consultants last year.
“It is too early to tell what the trend for the next year will be, but we have a number of candidates that we believe will be successful,” M. J. Prentice, the president and chief executive officer of Public Consulting told the Journal.
“A great number of our private consultants have also started their careers in public-facing roles.”
The study said that the public consultants who did find work for public firms in 2018, but didn’t do it as well as they did in previous years, were also more than five years older.
They were also 20 percent less likely than their private counterparts to be employed by the same company, the study found.
In 2018, the median age of public consultants was 40.
The average salary for a public-sector public consultant was $17,400, according to the study.
Meehans office said that this year’s numbers are higher than the median, but still lower than the industry average of more than $50,000.
